Who We Are
WHAT IS LIT ?
LIT stands for Lakewood Institute of Theatre . LIT is a theatrical education program designed specifically to build skills and prepare actors of all ages for the stage. CAN YOU TELL ME MORE? LPH is expanding its Educational Program to help students ( of ALL ages ) grow to their full potential. Our vision is to allow students to step into our classes to learn new techniques and styles that help them thrive as actors. LIT focuses on audition preparations, scene studies, movement, voice, technical theatre, improv, stage combat and much more. Each session is designed to help students thrive and ultimately prepare them for the industry of acting. Confidence, team work, collaboration, empathy, and innovative thinking are only a taste of the life skills that can be built within the art of theatre. Whether students choose to make theatre their career goal or simply improve their journey in life…our improved Education Program, LIT can provide the outlet students need. Our instructors are professionals with a variety of expertise within the Performing Arts Industry. All instructors complete a detailed syllabus to ensure outstanding learning and pass an extensive background check. LPH still has Production Based Education Projects for students. It is the goal of LIT to help polish skills and provide an outlet to put those skills to work in our productions. LIT is designed to enhance home schooling curriculum's as well as build upon traditional schooling by creating opportunities to deliver art into our daily learning. LIT is designed for adults as well. We serve all ages and all skill levels. LIT caters to each student and meets them exactly where they are. Intensive classes have the opportunities to work with Northwest Directors and Actors who will help prepare students for LPH's main stage and surrounding theatres! Each season (Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer) is packed with an explosion of fun and knowledge. We are so excited for you to thrive in our new Lakewood Institute of Theatre! |
Our Purpose
Our Commitment to Community
Every year, the Lakewood Playhouse teaches hundreds of children from our local community important lessons about confidence, personal responsibility, working together and creative expression. These strong theatrical skills are also important in life. LIT is committed to continuing this vision in our Institute of Theatre (for all ages) and our productions based programs. Performance and Skill Building Experiences Our performance-based programs are designed to immerse students ages 5 to 18 in a total theatre experience. Students (of all ages) have the opportunity to explore different facets of theatre in our classes, rehearsals, and public performances. All productions offer exciting opportunities for performers and technical crew. LIT accommodates students of all skill levels. Scholarships Full and Partial Scholarships are available based on financial need, and are arranged in exchange for parental assistance with productions and/or other volunteer needs. We are thankful for our sponsors, CrimeStoppers and The Clover Park Rotary Club for their financial support of our scholarship program as well as our individual gracious donors. You are changing lives!! |
