Education Production Manager
Position Overview:
The Education Production Manager in conjunction with the Education Director, and under the supervision of the Managing Artistic Director, shall supervise the education project management of Lakewood Institute of Theatre at Lakewood Playhouse. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Be the point of contact for all Education Classes
- Recruit and hire production staff for productions and classes
- Recruit and hire highly qualified support staff, and/or individuals, for education classes
- Create, implement, and maintain education calendar, working closely with the Education Director, Managing Artistic Director, Associate Artistic Director, and Production Manager to avoid conflicts with the mainstage production and office calendars, respectively.
- Create and provide forms for all camps and classes (audition, special signage, cast packets, etc.).
- Be available, or appoint someone to be available, evenings/weekends during auditions, callbacks, first day of classes & camps, production meetings, technical development in the performance space, performances and special events for LIT
- Ensure that all the aforementioned events have the following when necessary or that an appointee will be present for: entrance, set-up, heat/AC, cleared stage, lights, sound, rehearsal props, instruments, power, security, clean-up, exit procedure and final lock-up.
- Schedule off-site classes and/or rehearsals: provide directions to alternative space and be available, or schedule appointee to be available, to support classes and/or rehearsals.
- Be point of contact for stage managers, instructors, and all production staff, or provide info for appointee in EPM’s absence.
- Recruit volunteers for classes, productions and special events.
- Coordinate school performances of main stage show in conjunction with the LPH Administrative Staff.
- Develop and maintain publicity via Facebook, Constant Contact, YouTube, Website, and other relevant social and/or electronic media.
- Assist with the marketing of LIT with the oversight of the Education Director
- Maintain a safe work and learning environment for all faculty, staff, students and guardians, patrons, and volunteers.
- Create and maintain current task-list for classes and camps in conjunction with Education Director.
- Create and maintain the LiT databases in conjunction with the LPH Production Manager.
- Supervise and implement staff and volunteer log for actual volunteer hours per classes, camps and/or Showcases.
- Take notes at LIT Production Meetings and distribute among the class and/or production’s creative team as well as the LPH Administrative staff.
- Develop and track LIT capital projects in conjunction with Education Director.
- Maintain extremely high standard of care for hiring and supervising any staff, employees or volunteers who will be working with children or any other vulnerable membersparticipating in productions, or special or volunteer events.
- Execute and distribute contracts for camps and classes in conjunction with the Education Director
- Inventory and maintain database for theatres resources working closely with the staff/employees with foremost knowledge in the respective areas of build stock, set pieces, props, and costumes.
- Maintain LIT and LPH storage spaces.
- Uphold LIT’s artistic and educational standards for designers.
- Help with set construction, lighting, prop construction/procurement, and sound when necessary for LIT Classes and Productions
- Supervise safety in the air, in the audience, in the lobby, and backstage.
- Supervise LIT Tech production schedules (theatrical improvements, builds strikes, etc),working closely with the LPH Production Manager and communicating clearly with the LPH Managing Artistic Director and Education Director.
- Work closely with Education Director to create and conduct Post Mortem for all education classes & camps to cover all artistic, production, and financial aspects.
- Make sure that theatrical space and equipment is maintained; oversee the upkeep of all theatrical space and equipment.
- Working closely with the Education Director to assist in designing and manage Faculty, Staff and Student surveys.
- Participate and assist in any LPH special events.
- Act as Stage Manager for the LIT Annual Spotlight Show: The LIT Annual Spotlight show will be chosen, cast, rehearsed and presented by LIT with contracts and support from the Lakewood Playhouse Staff. The LIT Annual Spotlight Show is the 2nd mainstage production of Lakewood Playhouse.

- Demonstrated abilities in “people skills,” including building trust and rapport in business relationships with diverse individuals, and demonstrating listening skills, poise, and tact.
- Demonstrated regular and reliable attendance and punctuality.
- The candidate must be able to complete a background check. We will do the background check at the finalist stage prior to hire.
