Clowning/Commedia Dell'arte Grades 5th-12th (8 weeks) Tuition: $125 Dates: Saturdays January 21st-March 11th 12:30 p.m. -2:30 p.m. Location: In person* Instructor: Meghan Ames Description: In this series, participants will explore the fundamentals of play and idiocy! Performer and clown Meghan Ames will lead games and improvisations that will encourage you to laugh at yourself and all of your humanity. We will explore the vulnerability of Clown [a level of theatre that centers around the pleasure in play for an audience] and the physicality of stock characters in Commedia D’ell Arte [the masked Italian originators of Slap Stick] in order to discover what is funny about you. Yes, YOU! Students of all levels are welcome to this heart opening, gut busting, pleasure seeking extravaganza! Students will learn about rhythm of voice and body, sharing the stage in ensemble, connecting with your audience, and how to play with failure - or as we like to call him, Mr. Flop! |
