Interviews will take place via Zoom between by 4/23-4/29, or until positions are filled.
Description
The Costume Designer internship is for individuals seeking practical Costume Design experience. The Costume Design will pull costumes for 8 summer showcase productions for Lakewood Institute of Theatre (LIT) at Lakewood Playhouse, and will have the opportunity to develop strong organizational and designing skills. The intern is expected to attend all production meetings and required rehearsals, take notes during rehearsal, track the requests of costumes, create/pull/order costumes, attend dress rehearsals, and assist the Instructor/Director as needed. This will give them practical Costume Design experience and the opportunity to be mentored by theatre education professional. Interns who have completed the summer internship will be eligible for consideration of Costume Designer positions for main stage productions at Lakewood Playhouse.

The Costumer will be expected to attend all production meetings, scheduled time for measurements, fittings, designer run-though, load-in, first dress rehearsal, and strike of each production. Additionally, the Costumer will be expected to remain within the budget given to them for each production, adhere to the design agreed upon by the Costumer and Director, and communicate through the Summer Stage Manager and/or LIT’s Production Manager via email.
The pulling/finding of costumes are not scheduled and are TBD on the Costumer and Costumer Intern’s schedules as long as deadlines are met. Most costumes for the Summer Quarter will either be pulled from LIT/LPH stock, and only a few items will need to be made from scratch.
