Summer Volunteer Assistant Stage Manager and
Teaching Assistant Internships

Interviews will take place via Zoom between by 3/21-3/31, or until positions are filled.
Each summer, LIT offers multiple opportunities for Middle and High School students to volunteer as Assistant Stage Manager Intern or Teaching Assistant Intern for 1 or multiple camps during the Summer Quarter, June 19th-August 19th. All Middle and High School Volunteer ASM’s/TA’s receive in trade 1 week of camp for every week he/she/they works as an ASM/TA., and are eligible to take the Stage Management Workshop June 19th-23rd, 6:30pm-9:30pm.1-week, 2-week, and 3-week positions, including some morning only and afternoon only camps, are available from June 19th-August 19th, 9:30a.m-4:30p.m. Monday-Friday with performances on some Fridays and Saturdays (and one Sunday, August 13th). All volunteer hours may be used for any school volunteer requirements, and LIT will fill out any forms provided by the student. ALL AMS’s & TA’s must attend Summer Orientation on June 12th from 7pm-9pm and Just 14th from 7pm-10pm (unless graduation and/or graduation requirements/activities take place on those days).

Assistant Stage Manager Intern Description
The ASM Intern is expected to attend all production meetings and classes/rehearsals, take notes during rehearsal, aid in the tracking of props and costumes, assist in administrative duties (i.e. paperwork, communication, etc.), and assist the Stage Manager and Instructor as needed. The ASM Intern may also fill the role of SM temporarily in rehearsals should a substitute be needed. ASM Interns who have completed the summer internship will be eligible for consideration of Assistant Stage Management and other volunteer positions for main stage productions at Lakewood Playhouse. ASM Interns will have the opportunity to develop strong organizational and management skills. Teaching Assistant Intern Description The TA Intern expected to attend all production meetings and classes/rehearsals, will assist the Director/Instructor in overseeing all educational aspects of each class/camp/workshop, help supervise camp students, and help students in character development, learning lines, and theatre games. The TA Intern will also have the opportunity to direct a scene within the production camp with guidance of the Director/Instructor. |

General Requirements
Strong communication skills are necessary. General knowledge of theater practices required. The Intern must have a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, assertiveness, and being proactive. This is an excellent opportunity for students who wish to pursue Stage Management or Theater Education.
